While some dogs thrive at daycare, many dogs need more than daycare. Working dogs were built to expend energy, work long days, and solve problems. So while socializing in daycare with buddies is fun, working dogs need more to do.

We’ve identified popular working breeds at Fitdog that we know are much happier (and less destructive) when given a diverse mix of activities and exercise.

some dogs need more than daycare

For these high-energy, smart breeds, we recommend three to five Group Classes per week. Owners immediately notice a difference in their dog. Not only are they tired, but they’re also fulfilled.

  • Husky
  • Boxer
  • Pitbulls / Pit Mixes
  • Rottweiler
  • Border Collie
  • German Shepherd
  • Australian Shepherd
  • Welsh Corgis
  • Samoyed
  • Labrador Retrievers
  • Jack Russell Terriers
  • Terrier Mixes
  • Pointers

For these occasionally mellower working breeds, one to two sports outing or classes per week could really make a difference in their personality and pep.

  • Spaniels
  • Golden Retrievers
  • Poodles & Poodle Mixes
  • Pomeranians and Pom Mixes

These breeds also benefit from extra activities, despite people’s misconceptions. As working breeds, even one or two days a week would make them much happier.

  • Corgis
  • Pomeranians
  • Rottweiler
  • Spaniels
  • Terrier mixes

Enter Fitdog Sports

We noticed some dogs need more than daycare. And that’s precisely why we created Fitdog Sports. We have small group Sports, Training, and Adventure Sports Classes six days a week. Now, dogs can get the exercise they crave while owners do their own thing. Because in addition to hosting classes, we also provide pickup and drop off services to several West Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Dogs enjoy the physical and spiritual benefits of exercise, socialization, exploration, and positive reinforcement. To get your dog started with Fitdog Sports, create an account at app.fitdog.com and schedule a Sports Assessment!
