Working out with a partner can make exercising more fun, so why not take your dog out and turn playtime into exercise? Here are a couple of fun summer activities for dogs and humans to enjoy together!
Summer Activities for Dogs
Play Frisbee fetch at the beach or the park. Playing fetch will not only keep your dog moving but you as well. As a bonus, just outside lowers blood pressure and stress.
Paddleboard with your pooch at the dog beach or a nearby harbor. Standup paddleboarding improves balance because it requires you to stand upright on the board. It requires a lot of core stability and leg strength. Also, almost every muscle in your body is used at some point during paddle boarding.
Head out for a hike. Hitting the trails has plenty of perks: nice views, fresh air, and the sounds and smells of mother nature. Hiking is a powerful cardio workout that lowers your risk of heart disease and helps control your weight while spending time with mother nature and your dog.
Bike with a friend by your side. Bike riding is great for working out quads, calves and of course your bottom. You could either have your pup running next to you on a Bike Tow Leash or hanging out behind in a dog bike trailer. No matter your preference, there is no better friend to ride by your side than your dog!
While all these are great ways to stay active with your dog, don’t forget to stay hydrated and have fun. Exercising should be a fun and rewarding experience for you and your dog. We hope you found some inspiration from these summer activities for dogs!
