We prioritize your precious pups and create a unique environment where they can play, exercise their body and mind, and have a safe place to call their home away from home. Join us as we showcase some of the fantastic individuals who love your Fitdogs as if they were our own! Today, meet Felipe Avalos!

Meet Felipe – Q&A
FD: What sparked your interest in working with dogs?
Felipe Avalos: I have actually been working with dogs since I was about 19. I started as a veterinary assistant with Banfield Clinics from 2006 to 2008. Then I took a break from working with animals so I could further my management skills. In August 2010 I returned to working with animals when I joined Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies as an assistant manager, and later as a Store Manager until 2015. When I heard Fitdog needed a manager I jumped at the opportunity and submitted my resume immediately.
FD: When did you first love dogs?
FA: I always grew up with pets. My earliest memories are of our lab Lucky growing up. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a pet. I guess for me it goes beyond my love and passion for dogs it’s really my love and passion for all animals.
FD: What is your favorite thing about dogs?
FA: My favorite thing is how much they love us. No matter how crazy or frustrating my day gets I always know Taco is going to be so happy when I walk through the door.
FD: What is the biggest change you’ve seen during a dog’s time at Fitdog?
FA: I think my favorite change is seeing all the dogs who weren’t getting the mental stimulation and are now excelling at our hikes, and other excursions. And furthermore, seeing dogs dragging their owners in through the door because they can’t wait for their adventure. Owners always tell me what a huge impact it has on their quality of life because their dogs come home tired and happy.
FD: What is one tip you would give dog owners regarding their pups?
FA: Daycare isn’t the only option. Some dogs do better when they are mentally challenged, and engaged through instruction or exercise. Foggy cold weather is the best weather for dogs to be active, although a lot of people think if the weather is bad their dog shouldn’t be outside.
